This document describes the design of a V-slotted microstrip patch antenna to improve gain and bandwidth. The antenna was designed to operate at 5.9 GHz for WLAN and Wi-Max applications. It uses a single layer substrate with dielectric constant of 2.2. Three V-slots were cut into the rectangular patch to reduce the size while maintaining performance. Simulation results showed the antenna achieved a maximum bandwidth of 1.04 GHz and gain of 6.22 dBi. The V-slotted design improved the gain-bandwidth product over a basic rectangular patch antenna. - Download as a PDF or view online for free
